Gaining a Better Understanding of Leaders, Their Challenges, and Their Plans

Behind every hiring, investment, and growth decision are people. How are they doing? What pressures are they facing, and what plans do they have for their business?

Based on 104 responses from business leaders and organizational managers, the 2026 pilot edition of the Barometer explores their morale, well-being, and business intentions. This exploratory report highlights the coexisting realities among participants: fatigue, difficulties in finding staff, and a desire to grow their businesses.

For businesses, support organizations, and decision-makers, these findings provide insights to better understand the needs that have been expressed and to inform discussions about the economic future of our communities.

This is an applied research initiative by INNOV, the innovation and applied research centers at the New Brunswick Community College (CCNB), in collaboration with the New Brunswick Business Council (NBBC) and the New Brunswick Economic Council (CÉNB).
